Laser Hair Removal

Has anyone ever had laser hair removal? Does it hurt at all?

I hate shaving and was thinking of laser removal. Are there any really good ways to remove hair forever without pain? Does laser really work? I have dark dark hair.

1. I haven't had laser hair removal, but I was considering it as well...haven't made my decision yet. However, while I was doing research, I found out that there are several types of lasers and each of these affects you differently. Some of them can actually cause darkening of the skin if you have darker skin, etc. So make sure you do your research first before deciding. Also, find out which type of laser the place you're thinking of uses and read up on it. Maybe consult a dermatologist too...
2. well its a bad idea because it can cause cancer!! i got my upper hair liped removed from burning process it put a needle in y our numb sking and burns the hair of wen u do it 2 times u dont get hair as much anymore!!
3. It hurts. Little worse than getting a tattoo.
4. Laser hair removal has actually been surpassed by IPL hair removal (in Australia - that is). As a Laser Aesthetician I have used and experienced both. I have dark hair and olive skin. I did have some hypopigmentation from the Ruby Laser but it resolved. I have had no side effects from the IPL and all my hair has gone.... legs, underarms, bikini. It's wonderful, not having to worry about it anymore. Both laser and IPL are attracted to the melanin in the hair and only goes as deep as the hair root.It is not invasive at all and feels like a slight rubber band flicking the skin. It doesn't cause cancer !!!! Either way it will take several treatments to be hair free.
5. There aren't any needles involved in laser hair removal. That's called electrolysis (spelling?), that was the old way of permanently removing hair.
